Today was a lovely, sunny, albeit windy, day. Perfect for an afternoon of recording, and it feels so right to be back in the studio. This time around I’m recording a single, and I think that’s a great place to start. We finished tracking the vocals, and lead guitar in three hours today, which is leaps and bounds from where I was this time last year. I feel like I have learned so much, and have come so far. My favorite new piece of gear that my sound engineer has invested in since the last time I recorded, is a modified Neumann U47 long body w/VF14 tube & k47 capsule microphone from 1957. It sounds amazing, clear, brilliant, and just so flipping sweet! I feel like it is the perfect match to capture my soft-to-power vocals. It’s really hard for me to properly explain how amazing this mic makes me feel haha. (Don’t mind me, I’ve just been majorly geeking out about this mic all day.)
And as for the actual song I’ll be recording… So many of you really love my song “A Girl Who Waits” and never fail, at every one of my shows at least one person asks if it’s on my album, telling me how much they relate to it. So I figured it was about time I recorded it. I can’t wait to add backing vocals, harmonies, and various instrumentals. She’s really shaping up to be a beautiful little song. Until next time lovelies!

I have been writing, writing, writing, editing, writing, revising, and more writing. Which is truly fabulous! That’s really where it all begins — a spark, a word, and voilà! a song. At the moment I have about 8 songs in the works for my next album, and I’m really stoked about each and every one of them! Some of them you’ve heard, but most of them are brand spankin’ new. I am going to put an enormous amount of effort into this album, because I want my premier full-length album to rock your socks off (and mine too for that matter!) So, it’s going to be a while before I release this puppy. Hopefully I’ll be able to release a digital single before then, which would give you a little taste of what’s to come.
Until then I want to let you all know I’m planning on putting a few covers up on YouTube. No word yet on when I’ll be able to film those, but it’ll be soon! (Hit me up if you want to request a song you’d really like to see me cover.)
Also, don’t forget to buy my EP Of the Ocean on iTunes if you haven’t yet! It’s super cheap (under $4) and really awesome if I do say so myself. ;)
Until next time!
