Today was a lovely, sunny, albeit windy, day. Perfect for an afternoon of recording, and it feels so right to be back in the studio. This time around I’m recording a single, and I think that’s a great place to start. We finished tracking the vocals, and lead guitar in three hours today, which is leaps and bounds from where I was this time last year. I feel like I have learned so much, and have come so far. My favorite new piece of gear that my sound engineer has invested in since the last time I recorded, is a modified Neumann U47 long body w/VF14 tube & k47 capsule microphone from 1957. It sounds amazing, clear, brilliant, and just so flipping sweet! I feel like it is the perfect match to capture my soft-to-power vocals. It’s really hard for me to properly explain how amazing this mic makes me feel haha. (Don’t mind me, I’ve just been majorly geeking out about this mic all day.)
And as for the actual song I’ll be recording… So many of you really love my song “A Girl Who Waits” and never fail, at every one of my shows at least one person asks if it’s on my album, telling me how much they relate to it. So I figured it was about time I recorded it. I can’t wait to add backing vocals, harmonies, and various instrumentals. She’s really shaping up to be a beautiful little song. Until next time lovelies!
